[00:02:09] <TheMightyBuzzard> yeah, feelin a nap myself but that'll leave me getting up about an hour before bedtime
[00:06:24] * Deucalion welcomes TheMightyBuzzard to fucked up sleep patterns. I know! Let's talk politics! How are you feeling about your new Pres-Elect?
[00:06:44] <Deucalion> Keep you awake until it is time for the pills to wear off :D
[00:07:12] <TheMightyBuzzard> cheeto jesus? i don't feel much of anything about him cause nobody really knows wtf he's gonna do now that he's there.
[00:08:46] <TheMightyBuzzard> i mean folks on both sides will tell you what THEY think he's gonna do but he's got no record so it's entirely guesswork
[00:10:54] <TheMightyBuzzard> eh, think i'll read a book
[00:16:36] <Deucalion> Media here was shitting out because he called some other nation first... "oh noes our special relationship".... sometimes you have to throw a disruptive influence in to the mix - may end up bad, may work out. It's refreshing not to have a career politician at the helm... but fuck knows how that will go.
[00:17:54] <Deucalion> Wasn't working before to anyone's satisfaction so why not disrupt it and start again?
[00:18:57] <Deucalion> Before you know it the US will have PR and a functional democracy again :P
[00:28:36] <chromas> We should have an internet democracy
[00:29:17] <chromas> Every little thing is available for us to vote on from our phones or other computers and we get a week to decide
[00:30:05] <chromas> and we can change our votes all we want until the deadline
[00:42:31] <cmn32480> chromas - nothign could POSSIBLY go wrong...
[00:44:18] <chromas> Like what?
[00:44:31] * cmn32480 starts researching ancient athens
[00:44:39] <chromas> We already have the winningly-challenged rioting in the streets and looting
[00:45:06] <cmn32480> sure.. ehy not
[00:45:48] <cmn32480> voter fraud isn't a hug problem now... internet voting? might be a problem... script kiddies FTW
[00:47:19] <chromas> Fine. Don't use the internet. Use the cloud
[00:48:44] <cmn32480> oh well in that case.. I think we ought to push this idea through congress with a RamRod
[00:50:21] <chromas> this is not a democracy; it's a cloudocracy
[00:51:17] * cmn32480 wonders what the silver lining is
[00:51:53] Deucalion is now known as juggs
[00:51:58] * juggs jiggles
[00:52:10] * juggs nick Deucalion
[00:52:15] <juggs> lo
[00:52:23] juggs is now known as Decalion
[00:52:40] <Decalion> There's the only silver lining
[00:53:00] Decalion is now known as Deucalion
[00:53:20] <Deucalion> One day I shall learn to type :)
[01:07:10] <Bender> [SoylentNews] - Lenovo is Ditching its Own Brand Name to Make Way for 'Moto' - http://sylnt.us - hello-moto
[01:07:43] <jasassin> yes gpu prices fall fast like 6 months half price
[01:08:31] <Deucalion> jasassin, show me a 1080 that has fallen 50% in 6 months :P
[01:08:38] <jasassin> unless you want somehing awesome like a vdoodoo2 thats 8 bucks on ebay
[01:08:55] <jasassin> hd3450
[01:09:32] <Deucalion> /ignore jassbandit
[01:10:31] <cmn32480> last years model falls to 50% 6 months after this years model comes out
[01:11:02] <Deucalion> cmn32480, seeing any cheap 980Ti deals?
[01:11:03] <cmn32480> the 9XX series are still fairly expensive
[01:11:24] <cmn32480> since I bought my 970 I haven't been looking much
[01:11:31] <Deucalion> best way
[01:12:18] <cmn32480> 980Ti is still between $700 and the sky
[01:12:40] <Deucalion> lol... let me just check behind the sofa cushions
[01:12:47] <cmn32480> newegg has some RFB's in the $400 range
[01:13:49] * cmn32480 is quite happy with his 970
[01:14:02] <cmn32480> play doom at High res quite nicely
[01:14:56] <Deucalion> yep.. I'm watching the 1060 1070 prices... the '80s are always premium priced
[01:15:09] <cmn32480> exactly
[01:15:27] <cmn32480> go a step or two below the top of the line and the price dumps rather dramatically
[01:15:37] * Deucalion hugs cmn32480
[01:15:54] <cmn32480> thanks. I needed that after the week I've had
[01:16:39] <Deucalion> likewise.
[01:16:57] * cmn32480 give Deucalion a bro hug
[01:17:25] <TheMightyBuzzard> remember, the three pats on the back mean "I'm. Not. Gay."
[01:18:09] <cmn32480> what was that fourth one you gave me for? Good luck?
[01:19:27] <TheMightyBuzzard> the one on the ass? "Psych."
[01:19:42] <Deucalion> he has a beard... it's a closet male thing for having an opening with hair around it. I dunno we need some safe spaces around here!
[01:20:01] <cmn32480> /join #safespace
[01:20:18] <TheMightyBuzzard> i got a sword within grabbing distance. safe enough for me.
[01:20:21] * Deucalion fucks off to bed before more damage is done. Be well all.
[01:20:30] <TheMightyBuzzard> nite boss guy
[01:20:34] <cmn32480> holy hell... we have a #safespace channel
[01:20:45] <cmn32480> ~gnight Deucalion
[01:20:47] * exec proverbially pits a fat32 volume of weed against Deucalion
[01:21:21] <cmn32480> how does one drop a channel?
[01:21:28] <TheMightyBuzzard> /part
[01:21:51] <cmn32480> apparentyl /leavce works too
[01:22:14] <TheMightyBuzzard> any channel you try to join will be there though
[01:22:19] <cmn32480> TheMightyBuzzard - my sword is always within grabbing distance...
[01:22:32] <cmn32480> chromas was already there
[01:22:36] <TheMightyBuzzard> mine's three foot long and pointy
[01:23:39] <cmn32480> you only get to measure one way... not once on each side
[01:25:53] <TheMightyBuzzard> weighs more than a newborn and i can hammer a six inch spike through a board with it
[01:26:30] <TheMightyBuzzard> 50 internets to anyone that gets the six inch spike reference without googling
[01:27:20] <cmn32480> I've heard it but I can't remember where w/o googling
[01:28:01] <TheMightyBuzzard> real genius. hell of a movie.
[01:28:02] <cmn32480> I googled
[01:28:53] <cmn32480> I think am gonn acall it an early night
[01:28:59] <cmn32480> maybe relax w/ a book
[01:29:07] <cmn32480> or some TV
[01:29:34] <TheMightyBuzzard> ~gnight cmn32480
[01:29:36] * exec skeptically bitchslaps a satchel of plastic grommets with cmn32480

[01:30:16] <Bender> karma - coffee: 3016
[01:30:20] <TheMightyBuzzard> i got coffee so of course

[03:03:24] <Bytram> From what I read there, the attack requires a specific format of a specific type of ICMP (3?). Not so much kills server as it gets the *firewall* to bog down so much that it blocks access through the FW.
[03:03:56] <Bytram> Also, from the comments on that story, is effective only on the "smaller" FWs; bigger ones can handle that load.
[03:05:47] <Bytram> IIUC, not only does it block systems outside the FW (i.e. on the internet) from reaching in (say to a web server), it would also block systems inside the FW from getting out to the internet.
[03:06:21] * Bytram could well be mistaken; would appreciate being corrected on any mistakes presented here.
[03:06:44] <julian> What attack is this?
[03:07:12] <Bytram> discovered vulnerability; read: http://arstechnica.com
[03:07:13] <exec> └─ 13New attack reportedly lets 1 modest laptop knock big servers offline | Ars Technica
[03:07:44] <Bytram> a single laptop with a 15 Mbps connection can drop access through some firewalls, if I understand it correctly.
[03:08:38] <Bytram> been a long couple of days... am working tomorrow, too. /me will hit the hay soon.

[03:18:20] <exec> welcome Ethanol-fueled: San Diego, CA, USA, 21°C/70°F, 7:18 pm GMT-8, Saturday, 12 November 2016
[03:18:28] <Ethanol-fueled> Hell yeah, another discrete math exam knocked outta the ballpark
[03:18:46] <Ethanol-fueled> was a good day. did well on an exam, got to see a black steal beer from the store in a humorous manner
[03:18:48] <Bytram> another divide-by-zero error?
[03:18:55] <Bytram> ;)
[03:19:18] <Ethanol-fueled> bytram, we did have a question about zero and the divides relationship
[03:19:19] <Bytram> but seriously, glad you had a good day
[03:19:43] <Ethanol-fueled> that's one stupid thing about math - some people say zero divides all integers, others say it divides only itself
[03:19:55] <Bytram> "jump discontinuity" is mathematics' polite term for WTF?
[03:20:15] <Ethanol-fueled> It's reaching that point where math is like a religion, and which is the right answer depends on which interpretation you subscribe
[03:20:39] <Ethanol-fueled> Bytram, jump discontinuity is continuous math talk---sacrilige
[03:20:40] <Bytram> foo / 0 where foo is either all integers or just 0?
[03:20:45] <Bytram> lol
[03:20:51] <Ethanol-fueled> yes, bytram
[03:21:12] <Bytram> well, goes on from there... not just integers, but also rational, real, and imaginary numbers, too.
[03:21:49] <Bytram> divide by zero in imaginary numbers is quite the mental, umm, "twist"
[03:22:02] <Ethanol-fueled> that sounds interesting.
[03:22:10] <Ethanol-fueled> maybe something I'll look up when the booze kicks in
[03:22:15] <Bytram> are you familiar with imaginary numbers?
[03:22:32] <Ethanol-fueled> I prefer to call them complex numbers and use j rather than i, but yeah, somewhat
[03:22:38] <Ethanol-fueled> I can read a Smith chart
[03:22:40] <Bytram> k, same thing
[03:22:54] <Bytram> *i* see what you did htere.
[03:22:57] <Bytram> =)
[03:22:58] <Ethanol-fueled> Har har
[03:23:27] <Ethanol-fueled> Boston Dynamics moved me from robotics to communications, so I've been doing a lot of RF/microwave stuff lately
[03:23:40] <Ethanol-fueled> a crash-course into the practical application of complex numbers
[03:23:45] <Bytram> beam me up, EF!
[03:23:56] <Bytram> thas for sure!
[03:24:21] <Bytram> so... wait... you're helping to build Skynet so they can communicate with each other?
[03:24:48] <julian> That always creeps me out a bit, why complex numbers should be so applicable to the fundamental structure of reality
[03:24:52] <Ethanol-fueled> Not just yet, though I know that autonomous swarms are a field of interest to the military now
[03:25:06] <Bytram> nod nod
[03:25:07] <Ethanol-fueled> agreed, julian.
[03:25:57] <julian> Philosophy of math has done more to challenge my atheism than anything else
[03:26:02] <Bytram> LOL!
[03:26:02] <Ethanol-fueled> It came easy to me because I learned about capacitance and inductance before I realized how complex numbers were used in the real world
[03:26:12] <Bytram> noice!
[03:26:21] <Ethanol-fueled> Bytram, are you drunk? Or a bot?
[03:26:29] <Bytram> neither
[03:27:33] <Ethanol-fueled> By the way, are complex numbers used outside of electronics and math classes?
[03:28:14] <Bytram> excellent question! I've not run into them
[03:28:19] <Bytram> s/them/any
[03:28:19] * sedctl offers Bytrom a /
[03:28:25] <Bytram> s/them/any/
[03:28:25] <sedctl> <Bytram> excellent question! I've not run into any
[03:29:47] <Ethanol-fueled> Probably a lot in quantum mechanics
[03:30:52] <Bytram> triple integrals on the complex number plane made for some very interesting transformations that I could never quite get my head around
[03:31:09] <Ethanol-fueled> Yeeech...sounds like a pain in the ass to evaluate
[03:31:23] <Ethanol-fueled> double integrals and partial derivatives are bad enough
[03:31:40] <Bytram> yeah, not fun. especially in the days before there was matlab or maple and their ilk. had to do it all by hand.
[03:32:17] * Bytram got really really good at drawing 3-D axes
[03:32:44] <julian> I'm always amazed at how much was done before even calculators
[03:32:48] <Ethanol-fueled> Ah, here's an answer:
[03:32:51] <Ethanol-fueled> "Two-dimensional problems involving Laplace's equation (e.g. heat flow, fluid flow, electrostatics) are often solved using complex analysis, in particular conformal mapping."
[03:33:15] <Ethanol-fueled> agreed, julian.
[03:33:29] <Ethanol-fueled> I believe, generally, that older engineers are smarter than younger ones.
[03:33:37] <xhedit> #fite Ethanol-fueled
[03:33:37] <MrPlow> #fite spam going to channel #fite
[03:33:39] <Bytram> now that is weird ... I read that, and am nodding to myself as it sounds right based on what I had studied, but there is no way in the world I could explain what that means!
[03:33:53] <Ethanol-fueled> xhedit, I don't get it.
[03:33:58] <MrPlow> #fite Ethanol-fueled falls broken at xhedit's feet.
[03:34:12] <Bytram> Ethanol-fueled: that could be, but I suspect it is only because they've had more time to make mistakes... and learn from them
[03:34:35] <julian> I think it's just that the older you are the more experience you've potentially gained which should be combined with the most modern tools available
[03:34:42] <xhedit> blame TMB
[03:34:53] <Bytram> xhedit: stop that!
[03:34:54] <Bytram> ~blame
[03:34:56] * exec points at Bytram
[03:35:00] <Bytram> =)
[03:35:01] <TheMightyBuzzard> wut?
[03:35:33] <Ethanol-fueled> julian, I think an engineer who has to use more manual calculations and pen/paper has a better understanding than one who is dependent on CAS systems.
[03:36:01] <Bytram> tend to think more before acting, because each attempt is much more time-consuming and painful, should it fail
[03:36:11] <Ethanol-fueled> It's kind of like an assembly vs. java argument. You can assume that somebody good with assembler has a deeper understanding how how the computer works under the hood
[03:36:27] <Ethanol-fueled> agreed, bytram
[03:36:36] <Ethanol-fueled> sup buzzard
[03:36:51] <Ethanol-fueled> even though assembler is more tedious than java
[03:36:52] <TheMightyBuzzard> just putting down a book, bout to sleep
[03:36:57] <Ethanol-fueled> (unless you're a masochist)

[22:24:11] <TheMightyBuzzard> seen his hundred day plan yet?
[22:24:14] <swiss> yeah
[22:24:20] <swiss> i'm on board with some, verymuch against others
[22:24:31] <TheMightyBuzzard> s'actually not very radical sides a few of them.
[22:24:34] <swiss> the "eliminate 2 regulations for every 1 new one" is fucking dumb
[22:24:50] <TheMightyBuzzard> nah. we could go on like that for a thousand years.
[22:24:55] <swiss> that's going to be "deregulate what lobbyists want, put in new regulation that lobbists want too"
[22:25:08] <TheMightyBuzzard> prolly, yeah.
[22:25:17] <swiss> if it was a democratic congress, that policy might not be the worst thing in the world
[22:25:27] <swiss> but in a rep/rep system, that policy is fucking stupid
[22:25:41] <TheMightyBuzzard> if he calls bullshit it might not either. he's hardly a party man.
[22:26:02] <swiss> I can't wait for Paul Ryan to get kicked to the curb
[22:26:13] <swiss> the latest I see Paul Ryan remaining in charge is June
[22:26:21] <TheMightyBuzzard> yup. slimy little fuckweasel
[22:26:29] <chromas> He should do a reality show to pick his administration
[22:26:38] <swiss> I mean, i thought Boehner was a fucking slimeball
[22:26:55] <swiss> and Boehner came out and said "Shit's too slimy with the GOP, i can't do this anymore and feel morally right"
[22:26:58] <khallow> Paul Ryan might last. Congress is its own little world and he's got allies and tendrils in place
[22:27:10] <swiss> and Ryan comes out and says "Don't worry, I have no issues being a slimeball!"
[22:27:22] <swiss> nah, Ryan opposed Trump too openly
[22:27:35] <swiss> if the GOP wants to work with Trump, and not make an enemy of him, they'll have to replace Ryan
[22:27:37] <TheMightyBuzzard> depends on how big a swinging dick trump can keep
[22:28:01] <khallow> You can get away with a lot in Congress. I wouldn't count Ryan out anymore than I would have counted Trump out last year this time
[22:28:05] <swiss> also, if we become close allies with Russia, do we even NEED any of our other alliances?
[22:28:20] <swiss> Ryan will stay in congress, just not speaker of the house imo
[22:28:29] <TheMightyBuzzard> we can't really stay close allies with russia though
[22:28:44] <swiss> why couldn't we stay allies with Russia?
[22:29:00] <khallow> too many conflicts of interest
[22:29:04] <swiss> Allies with Russia means much more pressure on China
[22:29:13] <TheMightyBuzzard> we can manage not to kill each other but that's about it. putin's a bit of a ruthless cunt and the people of the us don't much care for him.
[22:29:18] <swiss> and much more pressure on OPEC
[22:29:29] <swiss> Russia loves Putin
[22:29:44] <TheMightyBuzzard> we ain't russia though
[22:30:03] <swiss> and I think we've been fed a lot of anti-putin propogands
[22:30:06] <swiss> propoganda*
[22:30:13] <TheMightyBuzzard> he's a better leader than we got and he has no love for us.
[22:30:24] <swiss> Putin loves Trump in power
[22:30:29] <swiss> and Putin hates Hillary
[22:30:32] <TheMightyBuzzard> that is not a good position to turn your back on Vlad
[22:30:57] <swiss> I'm not sayin to turn our back, but I'm saying to form alliances with Russia against southeast asia and the middle east
[22:31:19] <swiss> the UN can get in a tizzy, but what the fuck will they do without the US and Russia?
[22:31:22] <TheMightyBuzzard> oh we could do situational allies well enough but we ain't ever gonna be good friends.
[22:31:35] <khallow> Hard to say what Putin's game is here
[22:31:40] <swiss> I think the US is done being expansionist
[22:31:43] <TheMightyBuzzard> nah, thas easy
[22:31:45] <TheMightyBuzzard> power
[22:32:02] <khallow> He might deliberately have played favorites to undermine Trump's credibility
[22:32:15] <swiss> khallow: he wants Ukraine back so his country has food, and he wants the middle east to produce oil and stop fighting with each other
[22:32:37] <swiss> khallow: day after Trump was elected Putin came and said he wants to restore positive relations with the US
[22:32:47] <TheMightyBuzzard> no, he's definitely better off with trump. hillary was much more politically savvy and ready to use him as a boogey man.
[22:33:09] <khallow> ok, I'll buy that
[22:33:31] <swiss> Honestly, we want about the same shit as Russia where there's a conflict of interest
[22:34:03] <swiss> we want the Middle East to calm their tits, we want cheaper items manufactured elsewhere, and we want China to stop attempting to own the internet
[22:34:30] <TheMightyBuzzard> swiss, actually, no on the manufactured elsewhere items
[22:34:48] <TheMightyBuzzard> donald's gonna push hard for tarrifs and ending trade agreements.
[22:35:01] <swiss> TheMightyBuzzard: eh, we want the profits, and we don't want to be in debt, but we want the items we're not manufacturing to cost the US less
[22:35:04] <TheMightyBuzzard> means he wants manufacturing jobs to come back.
[22:35:35] <swiss> it's a combo of 2 things. Jobs back to America (reduce debt) and grant us the opportunity to impose more tariffs
[22:35:43] <TheMightyBuzzard> mind you it'll also mean the end of uber cheap shit but then will the higher paying jobs offset that? dunno.
[22:35:55] <swiss> if we eliminate the trade agreement, they have to lower their prices to be competitive with the Tariff
[22:36:11] <TheMightyBuzzard> didn't work in the great depression. nothing but getting involved in wwii did though.
[22:36:30] <swiss> I think we should severely decrease our standing army
[22:36:47] <swiss> boots on the ground are okay, but we don't need them as much now
[22:37:02] <swiss> more UAVs, more computer scientists.
[22:37:07] <TheMightyBuzzard> as often. we don't need them as often. we still need the numbers though.
[22:37:26] <khallow> have to agree. and given the coming budget mess, we're going to need to compromise on multiple funding areas in order to get anything done
[22:37:27] <swiss> no, i mean as much. We can go into combat without exposing the human body to the enemy
[22:37:28] <TheMightyBuzzard> not paying them combat pay will shave a hefty bit off their costs though.
[22:37:54] <swiss> We have technology that we can produce, and we don't pay the tech a wage
[22:37:58] <TheMightyBuzzard> not effectively. you can destroy something with planes but you can't control it with them.
[22:38:15] <khallow> I think though something really, really needs to be done about military procurement
[22:38:22] <TheMightyBuzzard> absosmurfly
[22:38:31] <khallow> it's a disaster waiting to cripple the US in some coming war
[22:38:34] <TheMightyBuzzard> this coming from an army vet
[22:38:39] <swiss> TheMightyBuzzard: but with drones and such, you could significantly reduce the force necessary to control something
[22:38:54] <TheMightyBuzzard> no, drones can not be used for control. only destruction.
[22:39:08] <swiss> what are the boots on the ground doing that the drones aren't?
[22:39:24] <TheMightyBuzzard> being able to issue orders and react quickly.
[22:39:29] <swiss> military presence? Having drones monitoring overhead every so often is fine
[22:39:29] <khallow> interacting with the locals
[22:39:38] <khallow> sticking around
[22:39:57] <swiss> khallow: trying to make friends? That's not what our militants are known for...
[22:40:10] <TheMightyBuzzard> swiss, tell that to the japanese
[22:40:19] <khallow> infantry man has about a loiter time of six months to two years
[22:40:36] <swiss> TheMightyBuzzard: if you have a man behind a computer screen, with a joystick, he can still react and issue orders
[22:40:48] <khallow> I don't think there's anything more magical about Islamic fundamentalism than there was about Japanese militarism
[22:40:56] <swiss> men on the ground are eyes/ears, guns, and presence
[22:40:59] <TheMightyBuzzard> no, he can't. i mean orders to the natives
[22:41:10] <swiss> throw a loudspeaker on the drone
[22:41:26] <TheMightyBuzzard> yeah, very personal there. hearts and minds for sure would be ours.
[22:41:37] <swiss> we're not winning hearts and minds with our military
[22:41:43] <swiss> that's what diplomats are for
[22:41:53] * TheMightyBuzzard chuckles
[22:42:25] <TheMightyBuzzard> put very plainly, a drone cannot do what a soldier can. not even a tenth of what a soldier can.
[22:42:43] <swiss> I'm not saying to get rid of all soldiers. I'm saying to reduce the force by at least 50%
[22:43:18] <TheMightyBuzzard> by 25% maybe. you don't get rid of your army if there are larger armies in the world.
[22:43:52] <swiss> if there's a larger army, we're not going to beat them by throwing more men with guns at them. We're going to bomb them
[22:44:01] <TheMightyBuzzard> cause nukes are a fine deterrent and all but only if you're willing to use them
[22:44:18] <swiss> I don't even mean nukes necessarily, but drone bombings, etc
[22:44:32] <TheMightyBuzzard> russia and/or china could go toe to toe with us militarily. drones would get laughed at.
[22:45:10] <swiss> China has an incredible advantage when it comes to population
[22:45:15] <TheMightyBuzzard> north korea is the one to watch currently and they have a million man army which will have to be dealt with by boots on ground.
[22:45:36] <swiss> and the fact that their ruler could say "All males will be going to war tomorrow" and they'd go, out of obediance
[22:45:41] <TheMightyBuzzard> the us cannot afford to even put a dent in a million men with drones. it would bankrupt us.
[22:45:58] <swiss> Instead, we put a dent by paying a million men of our own to stand by?
[22:46:09] <TheMightyBuzzard> yep, boots are a LOT cheaper.
[22:46:30] <TheMightyBuzzard> check the pay scales. we made fuck-all when i was in.
[22:46:37] <swiss> Drones don't (or shouldn't) have as many ongoing costs
[22:46:53] <swiss> plus, don't forget the costs for the government after they leave active duty
[22:47:07] <TheMightyBuzzard> no but the up-front costs are kinda a bitch unless you're just wanting a little rc plane that can't shoot anyone or can only do it once.
[22:48:01] <TheMightyBuzzard> most vets don't bother with the VA and that's the only ongoing cost.
[22:48:03] <swiss> sure, up front costs are a bit of a bitch. But if we reduced by 25%, and allocated all of that towards unmanned attack vehicles, we'd be able to consistantly shrink
[22:48:15] <swiss> GI Bill is a cost
[22:48:22] <TheMightyBuzzard> ahh, true nuff
[22:49:00] <swiss> we're sticking with 1980s methods of war, because that's what everyone in charge remembers fighting
[22:49:00] <TheMightyBuzzard> never used mine. i spose i could still but i don't think i could make it through a semester without getting kicked out.
[22:49:23] <swiss> doesn't the GI bill also give yo ua housing loan?
[22:49:44] <TheMightyBuzzard> heard something about those but i think they're separate.
[22:50:07] <swiss> i know a couple vets who bought their houses with nothing down through the government's loan program
[22:50:08] <TheMightyBuzzard> not so much gives you as backs you if you fail to pay it back.
[22:50:57] <TheMightyBuzzard> i personally dislike that program.
[22:51:11] <TheMightyBuzzard> it gets people to try to keep a house they can't afford.
[22:51:27] <TheMightyBuzzard> s/keep/go after/
[22:51:27] <sedctl> <TheMightyBuzzard> it gets people to try to go after a house they can't afford.
[22:52:08] <TheMightyBuzzard> smoke break
[22:52:08] <TheMightyBuzzard> nicotine++
