[06:53:30] <jasassin> i'm running fedora25, i ran a dnf update about 5 days ago, and i noticed netflix has some pretty bad screen tearing (star trek voyager low res video). has anyone else noticed this?
[06:53:51] <jasassin> i ran top to see if i could find anything... it looked like xwayland was using more cpu than before
[06:55:22] <jasassin> just got done building a new kernel maybe this will help

[07:35:45] <jasassin> i figured out why my netflix was shitting itself
[07:35:53] <jasassin> when i did the dnf update
[07:36:14] <jasassin> it updated chrome, and they totally regressed video playback in chrome. netflix works fine under firefox.
[07:36:53] <jasassin> if, while playing a video on netflix i press.... cntrl+alt+shift+d under chrome it just drops frames up the ying yang now
[07:37:04] <jasassin> maybe i can uninstall and get an rpm from google

[08:07:03] <jasassin> i tried it uninstalled all the chrome shit, even deleted all the chrome shit under .config
[08:07:19] <jasassin> installed the chrome from google.com and it still drops frames like a motherfucker
[08:07:27] <jasassin> i wonder what they did to chrome... they really busted it
[08:14:58] <jasassin> i even just tried the beta version and its the same as the stable one
[08:15:01] <jasassin> :(
[08:15:03] <jasassin> fuck
[08:15:37] <jasassin> where can i find old rpm's of google? i would like to know when this shit regressed
[08:20:59] <jasassin> im glad firefox plays netflix with 0 frames dropped
[08:21:12] <jasassin> i dont really care, but google should be ashamed of itself for whatever they did

[12:59:32] <boru> It never highlights me. I'm hurt.

[13:01:27] <Bytram> boru: Get yours now!
[13:01:39] <Bytram> boru: This highlight is the highlight of your day!
[13:01:49] <boru> I know; how am I supposed to catch up with all of the latest other-server other-channel news.
[13:02:00] <Bytram> ROFLMAO!
[13:02:12] * Bytram ponders writing a script
[13:02:14] <boru> And project scandal.
[13:02:44] <Bytram> maybe you'll have to, gasp, join other channels and... ask?
[13:03:00] <jasassin> what a dick
[13:03:39] <jasassin> fucking nigerian scammers in a soylentirc channel.... thats a new one
[13:03:40] <boru> That's very inconvenient. Push transmissions are so much more efficient than polling.
[13:04:49] <Bytram> boru: mebbe you can write a bot to advertise that you'd like to be included in the spam? Fire it up in freenode, etc.?
[13:04:51] <Bytram> ;)
[13:05:02] * boru chuckles.
[13:05:16] <jasassin> go into his channel and tell him you need some money for your channel that is doing so excellent now!
[13:05:39] <boru> I'm not in very many channels on Freenode these days. I'd like to avoid +b in the last remaining few I grace with my presence.
[13:05:46] * Bytram continues melting... temps reached 90+ degrees yesterday, is already in the 80's and humidity is over 50%
[13:06:09] * jasassin hates humidity
[13:06:19] * Bytram has enough stimulation/input dealing with this site... no need for me to go seeking more!
[13:06:24] <jasassin> i know people always say its not the heat, its the humidity, but its true!
[13:06:46] <jasassin> gets so fucking humid here and there was like 4 inches of ice on the door at 7-11
[13:07:49] <jasassin> had to bust out my red ranger swiss army knife and start chipping away... i really need a beer and a slimjim
[13:09:44] * jasassin knows theres beers and slim jims behind this ice somewhere
[13:10:42] * Bytram notes the story queue is in good shape, though the submissions queue is running light.
[13:11:01] <Bytram> I've got the late shift at work tonight... think I'll have a snack and go back to bed.
[13:13:15] <jasassin> chrome 59 is not stable. load it up under netflix and watch the cpu go off the charts. stable my arse.
[13:14:30] <jasassin> Bytram: just curious, what are you having for a snack?

[16:13:23] <jasassin> 500 dollars for a game console?
[16:13:44] <jasassin> reminds me of a joke an old joke can't remember who told it
[16:14:48] <jasassin> something like this: I was walking down the street one day and I found a wallet. It had 500 dollars in it, and the persons I.D. I was immediately faced with a moral dillemma.... crack or hookers?
[16:15:34] <jasassin> that reminds me of the spider man joke doctor octavius told
[16:16:24] <jasassin> doc oc: i have to ask did anyone here just lose a huge roll of 100 dollars bills in a rubber band?.... because i found the rubber band.

[17:04:29] <SoyGuest3357> straw poll - what term do you guys use for a narrow wedge that you drive between interlocked parts in order to separate them? (e.g. in an electronics context)
[17:05:05] <mechanicjay> screwdriver
[17:05:08] <mechanicjay> ;)
[17:10:18] <AndyTheAbsurd> "pry tool" is probably sufficiently generic to get the point across. But mechanicjay is right, it's (usually) a screwdriver. (I guess I could use plastic tire levers (which I have for removing bicycle tires) in that way as well, but haven't actually done so.)
[17:17:42] <SoyGuest3357> I just encountered the word "spudger", which was alien to me.
