[21:22:28] <Sulla> Anyone here play civilization 4-6?
[21:22:37] <hopdevil> yup
[21:23:39] <hopdevil> deity or go home ;)
[21:28:40] <Sulla> Impressions of civ VI?
[21:29:07] <Sulla> I skipped V, but just recently played some beyond earth and found the gameplay exceptionally shitty compared to IV
[21:29:13] <hopdevil> it is easier
[21:29:27] <Sulla> Some interesting concepts introduced, but feels like it fell flat on implementation
[21:29:31] <hopdevil> and the expansion is a lot more gameish
[21:29:50] <hopdevil> and less what i wanted out of civ
[21:30:01] <Sulla> Should I bother with VI or just keep playing II and IV until they stop working?
[21:30:20] <Sulla> The whole "every unit as a boat" thing is stupid
[21:31:24] <hopdevil> well, there are some good things about VI, so I still start a new game every now and then
[21:31:28] <hopdevil> V was better
[21:31:53] <Sulla> Thats a shame
[21:32:05] <hopdevil> I just started a large island plates map as japan
[21:32:21] <Sulla> is beyond earth a strict civ v deal or some sort of midway between v and vi
[21:33:33] <Bender> [SoylentNews] - A Look at Vim, a Text Editor for the Ages - http://sylnt.us - :wq
[21:33:58] <hopdevil> its kind of a spin off like alpha centauri
[21:34:38] <Sulla> I need to go back and play some alpha centauri.
[21:34:49] <hopdevil> everyone loves that one.. i never got into it
[21:34:52] <Sulla> in beyond earth I spent forever building a massive military to find I didn't need any of it
[21:34:56] <Sulla> lots of micromanaging
[21:35:27] <Sulla> I regret never getting into civ III because my first session of it sucked so bad
[21:35:47] <Sulla> Got put on an island with 10 or so squares as a starting point surrounded by ocean
[21:35:56] <Sulla> was way ahead in the tech, but no saltpeter
[21:37:01] <hopdevil> not getting something like iron makes it really tough
[21:37:33] <hopdevil> i like that VI has interesting play around information gathering and espionage
[21:37:42] <hopdevil> but it could be so much better
[21:37:45] <hopdevil> the AI is garbage
[21:38:15] <Sulla> Ah
[21:38:24] <Sulla> espionage in beyond earth seemed real limited
[21:39:19] <hopdevil> playing at the higher difficulties is fun, but very time consuming
[21:39:38] <hopdevil> i keep a freaking note book just to track everything
[21:40:12] <Sulla> in V/VI does higher difficulties actually smarter AI or do they just get to cheat like in II
[21:40:49] <hopdevil> its more like they have a head start and bonus resources, but it doesnt straight cheat
[21:41:35] <Sulla> Alright, back to work, thanks for the info!

[22:31:08] <SoyCow0344> What's the best way to report a discovered website vulnerability for a state (US) agency in the US?
[22:32:14] <chromas> Probably anonymously
[22:32:17] <hopdevil> lol
[22:32:37] <hopdevil> it depends on a lot of things, states are fairly different
[22:32:47] <hopdevil> might start with US CERT
[22:33:20] <SoyCow0344> the only problem is, it's part of a system where you have to log in to, in order to see the vulnerability
[22:33:29] <hopdevil> that doesnt matter
[22:33:35] <hopdevil> vuln is vuln
[22:33:44] <SoyCow0344> it is if I want to be anonymous as chromas says lol
[22:34:36] <hopdevil> id send it for you, i have good relationship with those folks
[22:35:43] <SoyCow0344> US CERT? I am looking at their site now. never had heard of them before
[22:36:49] <hopdevil> if they dont handle it outright, they can certainly direct you to those who can
[22:37:25] <hopdevil> it is basically DHS
