[04:56:07] <chromas> Toilet water sounds like a good place to get your alcohol. It's full of microbes already, the alcohol will kill the germs, plus it's fortified with vitamins pee and poo
[04:57:28] <janrinok> mornin' chromas !
[04:57:38] <chromas> =g'day janrinok
[04:57:47] <chromas> =smake systemd

[04:58:41] <chromas> so it died on a url
[04:59:16] <chromas> aha. the g'day function hits up a phpoo script and it didn't like that

[04:59:46] <janrinok> =ping
[04:59:46] <systemd> Pong!
[04:59:52] <janrinok> yep - sorted!
[05:00:16] <chromas> I've been moving stuff over to another box
[05:00:40] <chromas> one that still has the issue that systemd pegs the cpu every 30 or seconds, but is passively cooled so I don't have to hear the fan whining
[05:01:42] -!- lilitsyunetsi [lilitsyunetsi!cadbddc818@37.252.sq.ypj] has parted #soylent
[05:03:39] <janrinok> still no idea what the problem is with that specific installation that you do not see elsewhere?
[05:04:06] <chromas> I need to make a cronjob...or systemd timer, to kill systemd, restart dbus and kill whatever "systemd --user" is, which isn't the actual command, but what it sets the command string to be, and hosts pamd
[05:04:23] <chromas> dunno. both boxes do it though since updates a few weeks ago
[05:05:41] <chromas> I haven't found anything interesting in the systemd-journald
[05:06:10] <chromas> Maybe I need to learn how to attach a debugger or something
[05:06:31] -!- lilitsyunetsi [lilitsyunetsi!cadbddc818@37.252.sq.ypj] has joined #soylent
[05:08:51] <chromas> I tell you hwhuwat though, prosody (xmpp server) really clogs up the journal with every little useless detail. Probably because it collects stdout
[05:09:24] <janrinok> I will do my best to avoid it....
[05:09:50] <chromas> So ask soylent: What's the current best replacement for jabber/xmpp for instant messaging since it totally sucks ass?
[05:10:32] <chromas> I know there's matrix, but the only single server in existence is javascript
[05:17:36] <chromas> Maybe it's because my username starts with a number. The systemd devs hate that for some reason

[05:25:25] <chromas> on another whiny topic, my laptop unsuspends itself a few seconds after folding it, but there's no info about why. it seems to occur when there's an ssh connection going, but it's not documented in the journalctl
[05:25:38] <chromas> it's like I'm running Windows
[05:26:42] <janrinok> lol - set fire to it. The devil is inside it!
[05:27:52] <chromas> on the one hands, it's my fault for running arch on a server...on the other, arch does minimal changes from upstream, so

[06:48:10] <FatPhil> ah, happy memories of https://github.com
[06:48:11] <systemd> ^ 03systemd can't handle the process previlege that belongs to user name startswith number, such as 0day
[06:53:54] <janrinok> looks like you might have identified the problem
[06:55:41] <chromas> Nah, it's not root access that's the problem, but cpu molestation
[06:56:47] -!- lilitsyunetsi [lilitsyunetsi!cadbddc818@37.252.sq.ypj] has parted #soylent
[06:56:57] <chromas> If I recall, they think usernames starting with a number is bad because you might want to randomly pass a uid in where a username would go and it should buttmagically know that's what you meant, and a username with a number would confuse the magic
[06:58:43] <janrinok> the username that begins with a digit would be the first place I would start looking - it _might_ help. Is it a big change?
[07:01:02] <chromas> Good point. Even though it's valid, and the systemd devs wrongly think otherwise, that could be it. Gotta watch my desktop and see what it does
[07:03:31] <chromas> The comments on that are funny though
[07:04:53] <chromas> "Hey, so a username starting with a number causes systemd to run processes as root"
[07:04:53] <chromas> "don't use usernames with numbers"
[07:04:53] <chromas> "but root access shouldn't be given"
[07:04:53] <chromas> "we totally check all our inputs"
[07:04:53] <chromas> "no we can get root"
[07:04:55] <chromas> "nuh uh"
[07:06:10] <chromas> one person mentions poettering, then "oh no the trolls! I'm locking the conversation!"
