[09:04:01] <fab23> chromas: no snow, but yes its the end of winter celebration
[09:04:22] <fab23> chromas: there was only 1 day with snow in early December
[09:04:32] <chromas> That's pretty rad. So if it's too windy to burn him does that mean winter lasts all year?
[09:05:57] <fab23> its a prediction about the summer, when it takes longer until his head explodes the summer will be bad, but last year it took a record 57 minutes and we still had a great summer.

[09:07:12] <chromas> global warming is messing with his head
[09:08:57] <chromas> "As a German, I always found the Brits to be reasonably friendly. However, one then agreed to be my wife, which I now consider unreasonably friendly."
[09:10:53] <chromas> "She is a Scot, but I found out calling her an English makes her an instant motivated sparring partner."

[09:37:58] <janrinok> seems like a reasonable reaction
[09:38:12] <aristarchus> The Work of Clocks, never done it is.
[09:44:51] <aristarchus> Is there a time for the vote on the fate of the SoylentNews?  Or are we leaving this to the tender mercies of janrinok, and his pop-top minions?  Asking for a soylentil.
[09:58:43] <aristarchus> Far too much idle chatter on this channel, when serious business is afoot!  Let's get cracking, people!
[10:00:33] <fab23> chromas: This remembers me of Amy Pond from Doctor Who :)
[10:06:55] <aristarchus> Time Lords of SoylentNews realize it is smaller on the back end, than it is on the inside.
[10:11:13] <fab23> janrinok: have you seen the cam from the snowman, picture is now better, but it still is a little windy, but not as much as yesterday evening.
[10:12:38] <janrinok> the camera view now is good in comparison to yesterday evening.
[10:13:19] <fab23> still a little bit distorted, but not much.
[10:13:52] <janrinok> insignificant,
[10:14:55] <janrinok> damn, it is time for my lunch - I don't know where this morning has gone. A bit of work on the site, some shopping and it is already lunch time!

[10:15:20] <janrinok> mornin' NotSanguine
[10:15:57] <NotSanguine> Hey janrinok
[10:16:05] <janrinok> how's things?
[10:16:08] <NotSanguine> how's it going?
[10:16:28] <NotSanguine> Things are okay I guess
[10:16:32] <NotSanguine> You?
[10:16:42] <janrinok> lol - I am OK thanks, I was just saying that my morning has disappeared already and it is now lunch time
[10:17:02] <NotSanguine> What's for lunch?
[10:17:58] <janrinok> I haven't decided - either salad and softcheese in rolled ham, or some Chinese style nems, probably also with a salad on the side.
[10:18:45] <janrinok> I often have fish for lunch but I have decided on fish for this evening so I have switched them about
[10:19:24] <NotSanguine> Gotcha. Yeah, I need to get some more cheese
[10:19:50] <NotSanguine> But first more milk...not sure I have enough for my coffeee -- and that would be disastrous
[10:21:45] <NotSanguine> Well, I'm off to brew my early morning coffee. Hope you enjoy your lunch -- whatever it may be!
[10:22:06] -!- NotSanguine has quit [Quit: NotSanguine]
[10:22:30] <janrinok> thks - go relax with your coffee! Laters!
[10:27:09] <Ingar> I'll have a sandwich
[10:29:43] <aristarchus> Working Clocks gather no chromium.  Time's fun, when you're having flies (Kermit).  Once upon a SoylentNews, censorship became the purpose.   Sandwich, Earl of.
[10:30:11] -!- aristarchus has quit [Quit: Client closed]
[15:56:03] <Ingar> it was very tasty
[16:47:50] <janrinok> so was my lunch of nems.
[16:53:46] <drussell> WTF are "nems" ??
[16:54:58] <Ingar> according to google, vietnamese rice roll stuff
[16:55:20] <janrinok> they are a Chinese roll stuffed with some kind of meat (port, chicken or whatever) mixed with vegetables. They have a dipping sauce to go with them.
[16:56:07] <janrinok> Mine were labelled as Chinese, but perhaps many oriental countries have the equivalent product.
[16:56:54] <janrinok> There was no rice in mine, just pork and chopped vegetables. But nicely seasoned and very tasty.
[16:57:12] <Ingar> I bet the chinese make them just as good
[16:57:15] <Ingar> and cheaper!
[16:58:00] <Ingar> mmmm I should make some fried rice
[16:58:08] <Ingar> has been a while since I did that
[16:58:42] <janrinok> I often make my own - they are simple to make. But these were in the 'almost out of date so half price' display, so I bought and ate them the same day. Still in date and a fraction of the normal cost.
[17:00:02] <janrinok> Ingar, I make a pot of fried rice and then save it in plastic bags of individual person size portions. 2 minutes in the microwave and it is ready to eat with whatever else I am cooking.
[17:00:50] <Ingar> mmm there's a plan
[17:01:31] <Ingar> because on one hand it's rather meh to make a familiy-size portions
[17:01:41] <janrinok> They freeze well and and defrost/reheat in a couple of minutes.
[17:01:46] <Ingar> large portions just don't fry that well
[17:02:45] <janrinok> Living alone I have to look a lots of ways of preparing my food so that I am not just eating my way through a large pot of something for several days at a time.
[17:03:44] <Ingar> deep freezer and single person portions I reckon
[17:04:19] <janrinok> I also make up marinades and sauces which I then freeze. Grab some pork ribs or chicken pieces, add, say, a sticky spicy sauce and defrost some rice and there is a meal ready to go, perhaps with some fresh veggies on the side.
[17:06:12] <Ingar> there are a number of dishes I usually make in large quantities for freezing
[17:06:26] <janrinok> The best way to keep the sauces and marinades is to freeze them in ice cube bags. You can then defrost just the amount you need for the meal you are preparing
[17:06:28] <Ingar> spaghetti sauce for one :D
[17:06:56] <janrinok> I with you there!
